“What can touch a man like that…?”
I am exceptionally proud to tell you that to celebrate the 60th Birthday of the world’s best-selling rugby magazine, I got to talk to many people’s greatest player, about arguably the greatest rugby match ever played.
Sir Gareth Edwards talks in detail about that game for the Barbarians against the All Black in January 1973. We discuss preparation for the match (there wasn’t much!), how both Gerald and Marvyn Davies missed out, that try, and even how Cliff Morgan got the job of calling out those ever so famous commentary lines. It was, for me, an absolute career highlight and Sir Gareth was as gracious, self-effacing and charming, as he was brilliant out on the pitch.
I do hope you can give it a listen.
